Step into My Boots Timber Products
Step into My Boots is a partnership between Community Youth Justice, Blundstone Australia and Troublesmiths.
Community Youth Justice works alongside young people to help them access resources and develop the skills and attitudes required to make pro-social choices. Engagement in community service activities provides young people with the opportunity to develop communication and problem-solving skills, while working safely alongside others. This supports re-entry into education and improves employment prospects.
However, access to sturdy and enclosed footwear was proving a barrier to participation. This is where Blundstone stepped in, with a ‘seeding’ donation of boots. A young person can now receive their own pair of boots. In exchange they learn the technical skills to make an item that can be sold through Troublesmiths shop front.
Step Into My Boots is an initiative of the Tasmanian Leaders Program 13.
